ASA Monitor 9 2019, Vol.83, 60.
The WFSA and members from its national societies (which includes the largest NS, the ASA) have been involved in two significant events in the last three months that span this quarterly update:
Ever since the 68th World Health Assembly voted unanimously to pass resolution 68.15 on Strengthening Emergency and Essential Surgical Care and Anaesthesia as a Component of Universal Health Coverage on May 22, 2015 – a biannual report out on progress to this end is mandated by the WHO at the World Health Assembly: 2019 was such a year.
The WFSA having supported governments in providing tools for Anesthesia Facility Assessments as well as for National Anesthesia Plans as Health Ministries build NSOAP’s: National Surgical Obstetric and Anesthesia Plans – reputedly already 43 such plans underway – to further this goal.
