Former Maryland Society of Anesthesiologists President Amar Setty, M.D., wrote an op-ed, published in The Baltimore Sun in February, on potential changes to the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and the influence U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Tom Price, M.D., may have on health care. “We look forward to working with (Dr. Price) to advance our quest for a safe, stable and predictable health care system that provides everyone access to high quality and affordable health care,” said Dr. Setty.
In February, Timothy Lubenow, M.D., and Santhanam Suresh, M.D., appeared in Crain’s Chicago Business discussing opioid alternatives, including spinal cord stimulation and nerve blocks. Anita Gupta, D.O., Pharm.D., was quoted in the Philadelphia Inquirer on new American College of Physicians’ guidelines that suggest drug-free therapies should be the first line of treatment against chronic back pain. “I think most patients want medication as a fast fix,” said Dr. Gupta. “What patients understand is often far from what the evidence tells us to do.”
