Being from Washington, D.C., I saw up-close what a very interesting year it was in 2016. Who would have ever thought it possible that we would witness the transition from President Obama to President Trump? Washingtonians are well-familiar with the art of the possible, which often is seen most dramatically in politics. Despite almost universal projections from the punditry and mainstream media that Hillary Clinton would be our next president, come election night, they weren’t even close.
That was the conventional wisdom about Donald Trump’s chances for election. Undaunted, the opposition to Hillary Clinton pushed forward. The Trump campaign did not accept the accepted theme of the day. And the results of the Electoral College were a clear demonstration of the need for change.
