The above testimonials came from attendees at PRACTICE MANAGEMENT 2016 and illustrate the continued importance of this conference for ASA members, practice managers and others involved in the business of anesthesiology. The conference took place January 29-31, at the Hilton Bayfront in San Diego.
If there is one word to summarize the overall theme for this year’s main conference, it is “Performance”: what it is, why it is important, how to measure it and how to be rewarded for it. Conference sessions and panels focused on recent legislative and regulatory changes, including MACRA (Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act), mandatory bundled payments and QCDR (Qualified Clinical Data Registry) reporting. More than 800 attendees heard a variety of experts discuss the challenges facing physician anesthesiologists as they strive to meet ever-increasing mandates to report financial, clinical and operational performance data.
