As of the writing of this article, it has been a year since my election to the position of ASA Assistant Secretary. Over the past 12 months, it has been quite an interesting ride. I am honored to have been given the opportunity of working with our ASA Secretary and excellent ASA staff concerning membership and member benefits.
We started off wanting to get a better understanding of what “member benefits” means and, more importantly, what exactly members want from their society. We were able to identify that membership truly matters to our patients, our practice and our specialty. The endless changes in health care can make the environment challenging to navigate, and ASA is here to ensure that you are prepared to face those challenges. You, as a member, can allow ASA to provide practical solutions that help you meet today’s needs and prepare for tomorrow’s challenges. Your ASA is committed to ensuring a successful future for you, especially in how we practice. Looking at the membership statement, there are three highlights regarding how ASA membership benefits our patients, our practice and our specialty.
