ASA contributes an article each month to This year’s contributors to date have been: Ed Mariano, M.D., who discussed how physicians should take advantage of leadership opportunities, and Daniel Campos, M.D., M.P.H., who wrote about truth in advertising, both in January. A February article by Kent Berg, M.D., and Gregory Janelle, M.D., discussed managing medications before undergoing surgery.
Anesthesiology News reported in December that the Perioperative Surgical Home (PSH) model lowers costs and optimizes care. ASA members from Kaiser Permanente in California and Ochsner Health System in Louisiana reported that PSHs have reduced hospital lengths of stay and reduced the costs associated with care.
