Anesthesiologists throughout the U.S. encounter regulatory obstacles, workflow challenges and administrative barriers that, in most cases, have unfortunately become part of their daily routine. For other members, these sorts of occurrences affect individual physician well-being and relationships with their peers, colleagues and administrators. In some cases, these regulatory issues affect the quality of care delivered to the patient. When you consider the different layers of regulation, guidelines and policy and procedure “best practices” that anesthesiologists follow, it’s not surprising that individual physicians and departments often look to ASA to help alleviate the regulatory and administrative burdens affecting an anesthesiologist’s daily practice.
