ASRA has just closed out an amazing year of advancing our mission and providing resources, research funding and education to more than 6,000 individuals who share our goal of improving patient care. Probably our proudest accomplishment in 2018 was the World Congress on Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine in April in New York City, breaking all previous records with 2,750 attendees. We set out to provide a meeting that offered cutting-edge research and education, was inclusive to people across the world and left a lasting memory on all who were able to participate.
Along with our sister societies, the European Society of Regional Anaesthesia & Pain Therapy (ESRA), the Latin American Society of Regional Anesthesia (LASRA), the Asian and Oceanic Society of Regional Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine (AOSRA) and the African Society of Regional Anesthesia (AFSRA), we provided top-notch educational content and cutting-edge research via a record number of abstracts. We were able to offer reduced pricing for attendees from low-resource countries and provide live online streaming of content for participants not able to travel to New York, making it truly an international collaboration. A great deal of hard work and preparation went into the meeting with colleagues across the world working tirelessly. We are sincerely grateful to all who contributed to its success.
