2018 EHR ASA Member Survey: Lessons and Policy Considerations
ASA Monitor 1 2019, Vol.83, 32-34.
ASA Monitor 1 2019, Vol.83, 32-34.
In May 2018, the ASA Quality and Regulatory Affairs (QRA) staff worked with the ASA Committee on Electronic Media and Information Technology (EMIT) to administer an electronic survey to 2,000 randomly selected ASA members. The survey’s aim was to collect updated information on the electronic health record (EHR) and health IT challenges members face. This survey followed up on a 2015 member survey that collected information on adoption and interaction with EHRs. The 2015 survey focused more on EHR implementation and the EHR Incentive Program (now the Promoting Interoperability component of the Merit-Based Incentive Payment System, or MIPS) readiness assessment. In contrast, the 2018 survey queried members on EHR adoption and use, health IT training and education, quality reporting and MIPS.
