ASA Monitor 11 2018, Vol.82, 56-57.
ASA commissioned a nationwide survey about women’s perceptions of labor and delivery pain to be distributed at the time of Mother’s Day. The survey found nearly half of moms said the pain they experienced with their first child was manageable. The survey was highlighted on ABC-TV (Chicago), FOX-TV (Los Angeles) and on HealthDay. The HealthDay article appeared in the Philadelphia Inquirer, U.S. News & World Report and Health. U.S. News & World Report also featured the survey in a July slideshow that explored myths and facts related to labor pain management and quoted Paloma Toledo, M.D., and Ruth Landau, M.D.
