The opioid epidemic. Drug shortages. Brain health. Children and anesthesia. All year round, the ASA Public Relations team is communicating with the public and media about the most critical topics affecting the specialty. During ANESTHESIOLOGY 2018, ASA members come together to share what they’re seeing on the front lines of patient care, in the O.R., the pain clinic and the research lab. Take that dialogue one step further by sharing your insights with our team, the media and your social media followers during the five most action-packed days in the field:
Get your message across and ensure it resonates. In today’s world of shrinking attention spans, it’s more important than ever to know your message, deliver it succinctly and support it with a story your audience won’t forget. Learn these techniques and more at a complimentary Leadership Spokesperson Training Session (LSTP) at ANESTHESIOLOGY 2018. LSTP is ASA’s interactive training session that includes tips, tactics and videotaped exercises to provide you with the tools to confidently and comfortably control a media interview or meeting with a lawmaker as well as make sure your message stands out. During the session, attendees will practice key messages related to the When Seconds Count ... Physician Anesthesiologists Save Lives® nationwide educational endeavor in discussions with target audiences. Participants will also engage in exercises to help craft and tell compelling stories to advance the specialty and deliver ASA messages about drug shortages, opioids and patient-centered, physician-led care. Five separate sessions are offered Saturday, Sunday and Monday. You can register for the sessions on the annual meeting website under the “Education” drop down tab. If you can’t join us at ANESTHESIOLOGY 2018, there will be webinars later in the year.
