On September 5, 2017, Jerome Adams, M.D., was sworn in as the 20th Surgeon General of the United States. Dr. Adams is a native of St. Mary’s County, Maryland and was most recently the Health Commissioner of Indiana. He became the first physician anesthesiologist to ever hold the position of Surgeon General. On the night of Monday, November 6, 2017, Dr. Adams sat down with Vernon H. Ross, M.D. (VR), Amy Woods, M.D. (AW) and James D. Griffin, M.D. (JG) for an interview to discuss his journey in medicine, why an anesthesiologist is well suited to be Surgeon General and the theme for his tenure, “Better Health through Better Partnerships.”
