In 2015, an independent study published in Anesthesiology concluded that“Most FAER alumni remain in academic anesthesiology and have established a consistent record of scholarly output that appears to exceed reported productivity for average faculty members identified in previous studies.”1  Indeed, the 397 grantees of the Foundation for Anesthesia Education and Research (FAER) who were investigated in this study generated approximately 20,000 articles (garnering more than 500,000 citations) and successfully competed for almost $450 million in National Institutes of Health funding alone. FAER is proud of its three-decade history of attracting, funding and supporting the best and brightest of academic anesthesiology, whose contributions help advance and secure the field as a whole for clinicians and scholars alike.
