Attention to education, science and research define us as a physician specialty, and substantiate our legislative and regulatory advocacy positions. We are also personally vested in maintaining excellence as practicing physician anesthesiologists. The ASA members who comprise the committees and editorial boards of the Division of Scientific Affairs, as well as the staff who support them, create educational and scientific opportunities that help us to stay up-to-date on all our professional interests.
ANESTHESIOLOGY® 2017 is going to Boston, where the modern specialty of anesthesiology began. Take advantage of the unique history, arts, music, and sports – and food – that are hallmarks of the city. Our 2017 meeting is setting a newstandard for anesthesiology meetings, led by Annual Meeting chair David Wlody, M.D. Three educational plenary sessions will highlight the program. The Opening Session will feature Atul Gawande, M.D., the Emery A. Rovenstine Memorial Lecture will be delivered by Lee Fleisher, M.D., and the John W. Severinghaus Translational Science Lecture will be presented by Emery Brown, M.D., Ph.D. For 2017, the educational sessions will be presented in 60 or 120 minute formats only, so that attendees can move more easily between sessions. To complement the face-to-face educational sessions, ASA will again offer Self-Study Program modules for learning at computer kiosks and on your own devices. The ANESTHESIOLOGY OnDemand product with slides and synchronized audio, as well as refresher course lecture and PBLD materials, will again be prepared for sale; the 2016 meeting’s on- and off-line product can still be ordered from the Education Center.
