From January 5-7, ASA President Jeffrey S. Plagenhoef, M.D., President-Elect James D. Grant, M.D, First Vice President Linda J. Mason, M.D., ASA CEO Paul Pomerantz and State Affairs staff attended the AMA 2017 State Legislative Strategy Conference in Amelia Island, Florida. The conference provides the opportunity for key physicians and staff from state and specialty medical associations across the nation to learn about legislative issues of importance to medicine. Representatives from ASA attend the conference each year.

“This meeting was spot on.” Dr. Plagenhoef said of the conference. “With the variety of political issues at the state level threatening patient-centered, physician-led care, I am pleased with the meeting agenda, dialogue and attendee turn out. We learned and discussed a lot here; now it’s time for medicine to get back to the state houses and protect what matters most – our patients.”
