New Reporting Requirement: Visits Within a Global Period
ASA Monitor 02 2017, Vol.81, 60-61.
ASA Monitor 02 2017, Vol.81, 60-61.
In its proposed rule for the CY2017 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (MPFS), the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) included a proposal that created much concern and generated a good deal of feedback to CMS. I am referring to the CMS proposal on how the agency intended to operationalize a claims-based approach to a MACRA requirement to collect data on the number and level of services performed within an assigned global period. This article will provide a bit of background and also describe what some ASA members will be required to do as part of this new data collection requirement.
