There was nothing unusual about a group of 35 out-of-town visitors exploring historic Boston during an autumn weekend, except that it comprised members of the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine from Johns Hopkins Medicine. In addition to the entire class of CA-2 (Clinical Anesthesia, year two) residents, the group included Drs. Colleen Koch (Department Chair), Jerry Stonemetz (Vice Chairman, Clinical Operations), Deborah Schwengel (Director, Residency Program) and Marie Hanna (Associate Director, Residency Program), as well as Tammy Snyder (Departmental Administrator) and Alexandra Hansen (Departmental Project Manager). They had come to seek out their professional roots. Local hosts and docents were Drs. Sukumar P. Desai and John A. Fox, from Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, and Matthew Giuca of Winthrop University Hospital, Mineola, New York.
