PRACTICE MANAGEMENT ™ 2017 – Critical Changes, Critical Strategies
ASA Monitor 11 2016, Vol.80, 32-34.
ASA Monitor 11 2016, Vol.80, 32-34.
Anesthesia practices are facing immense challenges (and maybe opportunities) in today’s constantly changing economic landscape. The explanation for these challenges are multifactorial: threats from governmental payers, hospital takeover of physician practices, buyout of physician groups by private equity firms, changes in reimbursement, value-based care, impositions of EMRs, and looming new payment models with ACOs, bundled payments, etc. This is a critical time for anesthesia practices, academic or private, and we need new tools and ideas on how to meet these challenges head on.
The ASA PRACTICE MANAGEMENT conference is the largest conference of its kind designed to help physician anesthesiologists meet the increasingly complex medical environment. PRACTICE MANAGEMENT 2017 (PM 2017) will take place at the Gaylord Texan Resort Hotel in Grapevine, Texas the weekend of January 27-29, with the theme of “Critical Changes, Critical Strategies” and specific emphasis on changing reimbursement models and strategies on how to deal with such models. The Committee on Practice Management has added some new learning opportunities and continues to provide an opportunity to interact more extensively with ASA leadership, which was begun at last year’s conference. PM 2017 offers a “who’s who” of national experts on anesthesia practice management topics.
