In 2014, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) introduced the Qualified Clinical Data Registry (QCDR) as a reporting option for calendar year 2014, allowing eligible professionals (EPs) to meet emerging requirements for the Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS) and the Value-Based Payment Modifier (VM). Under current PQRS reporting regulations, EPs may be eligible for payment incentives if they report nine measures via the QCDR across three National Quality Strategy (NQS) domains. One of the measures must be an outcome measure. With the QCDR option available through the Anesthesia Quality Institute’s (AQI’s) National Anesthesia Clinical Outcomes Registry (NACOR), anesthesia practices gain the ability to submit data on up to 19 anesthesia–related measures, including 11 that were developed by ASA® and the AQI.
