In this edition of the NEWSLETTER, experts in occupational health and physician wellness discuss issues that, unfortunately, often take a back seat to many of the other concerns of our daily lives. This is unfortunate, because occupational hazards are shared by almost everyone and their impacts can be profound.
Though far from an expert, I have had the opportunity in my career to observe the occupational and environmental health hazards on the physician specialists I have worked with. These dangers have ranged from physical (e.g., heavy lead vests worn by interventional radiologists) to stress and proximity to biohazards and dangerous chemicals.
