When asked about his success as a professional hockey player, Wayne Gretsky once replied, “I skate to where the puck is going to be, not where it’s already been.”
The American Academy of Anesthesiologist Assistants (AAAA) and ASA both strive to anticipate the issues facing anesthesiology practitioners and position ourselves to make a positive difference. Our goals are in alignment. In sports and in politics, when players find common ground and work together, they are more likely to achieve success.
Today, an encouraging trend among ASA state societies is the incorporation of certified anesthesiologist assistants (CAAs) into ASA state societies as members. To date, 11 states have taken the necessary steps to admit CAAs to membership.
