ASA Monitor 04 2015, Vol.79, 42-43.
The ASA Committee on Obstetric Anesthesia serves the members of our organization by promoting the best possible anesthesia care to mothers and their children during pregnancy and childbirth. One aspect of the committee’s work is to create, review and revise documents. Often, these are joint documents with external organizations such as the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG). In addition, we are often asked to support a document written by an external organization. Many challenges are encountered when asked to support a document. The process includes a review by the committee and then a review by the ASA Administrative Council and the Committee on Standards and Practice Parameters, as per the ASA’s Administrative Procedures.1  Recently, ASA supported the Obstetric Care Consensus: Levels of Maternal Care document. The following is the summary of this recently released document.
