“I said ‘Somebody should do something about that.’ Then I realized I am somebody.” – Lily Tomlin
Each day is simply packed with things to do at work and at home, people to see and places to go. Family, work, extracurricular activities (if we have time to enjoy them) all vie for our attention. They are all positive aspects of our lives, but they can become overwhelming at times. When legislative or regulatory issues arise that might be injurious to our profession or – even worse, to patient safety – it is easy to say “shouldn’t somebody do something about that!?” Sometimes we’re angry when “someone” doesn’t “do anything about it” and the legislation or regulation passes or goes into effect.
