Promoting innovation and research in anesthesiology education has been a primary goal of the Foundation for Anesthesia Education and Research (FAER) from inception. Since its beginning in 2012, the FAER Academy of Education Mentors in Anesthesiology has pursued its mission to support mentorship in anesthesiology education. Academy membership has been recruited, a program for expansion approved and criteria for membership established. We want to ensure that the academy’s mission is broadly understood by our stakeholders, and that academic leaders better understand what physician anesthesiologists dedicated to excellence in perioperative education need to be successful. The academy is now initiating activities to create greater awareness around its goal to improve the quality and quantity of education mentorship in anesthesiology.
