2013 AIMS Market Update
ASA Monitor 11 2013, Vol.77, 28-30.
ASA Monitor 11 2013, Vol.77, 28-30.
This article represents the fourth year we have compiled market penetration numbers for installations of anesthesia information management systems (AIMS).1 -3  As in past publications, we contacted 12 AIMS vendors (Table 1) who sell products in the United States and have at least one complete system at one hospital. We are unaware of any other vendors who meet this qualification, and if we have omitted anyone, we sincerely apologize. As in previous publications, we have omitted the surgical center market.
As previously, we segregated these vendors into three categories. The first group is vendors that sell an AIMS as well as clinical monitors or anesthesia machines. The second group represents vendors that sell an AIMS and also sell O.R. management systems (ORMS). The final group is vendors that sell exclusively AIMS. Tables 2, 3 and 4 represent the reported numbers from each vendor of number of hospitals where the system is “live,” “under implementation” and “under contract”; whereby the “under contract” number is presumed to indicate hospitals that have purchased a system but have not yet begun to implement it.
